'I'm George's Mate’ raises awareness of the mental health challenges faced by young adults.
We contribute to mental health and suicide prevention courses in schools and colleges.
We promote peer support for young people.
WHY WE ARE GEORGE’S MATES.
Our Inspiration
Our 17 year old son, George, attempted to complete suicide.
George is receiving specialist care. He is in a prolonged disorder of consciousness but continues to make progress.
We want no other young person to suffer.
We want no other family or friends to suffer.
George is so loved.
The support of family, friends and strangers in our mission has been wonderful.

Suicide Awareness
Our aim is that suicide awareness is made a compulsory part of the RSE element of the National Curriculum. We believe that students should be able to access an accredited course. We are raising funds to support the costs of schools and colleges in so doing.
We are also raising funds to encourage peer support and access to age-appropriate counselling.

WHY NOT DONATE TWO MINUTES OF YOUR TIME?

Ideally, an accredited Level 2 qualification should be accessible, free of charge, for all secondary school students.
School staff should receive appropriate training in suicide prevention.
